Capacele utilizate la nivelul conectorilor needle-free atat pentru a dezinfecta cat si pentru a actiona ca o bariera fizica de protectie impotriva contaminarii externe (cel mult 7 zile in cazul in care nu este indepartat de la nivelul conectorului) Dezinfectia pasiva se bazeaza pe eficienta alcoolului izopropilic 70% (IPA 70%) de a actiona in termen de 3 minute.
