Produsul tip 37% este stabil in limite normale de temperatura, respectiv 10-35ºC.
La frig, la temperaturi sub 10ºC devine tulbure, polimerizeaza. Prin incalzire produsul se depolimerizeaza. Metanolul este folosit ca stabilizator pentru solutiile de formaldehida. Se oxideaza in aer formand oxid formic.
